Hurricane Ike Recovery – Contractors

As a very visible Galveston Realtor, both  physically and on the Internet, I have already received several phone calls from out-of-town contractors of sorts looking for referrals to those needing repair work done at their homes as a result of Hurricane Ike.

I do not know these folks and will not refer them to anyone.

When looking to hire someone to do repair work on your home, I refer you to this link to the Texas Residential Construction Commission website with tips on hiring a contractor.

Also, please make certain that your contractor obtains all applicable building permits before work begins and make certain that you and your contractor both are aware of any additional steps needed should your home be in one of our locally designated historic districts (East End Historic District, Silk Stocking Historic District, Lost Bayou Historic District, and the Strand/Mechanic Historic District).  The City of Galveston Planning Department can be reached at 409/797-3660 or by email at PlanningCounter@CityofGalveston.org.
